This continuing education presentation highlights the importance of fall risk scoring and assessment in hospitalized patients and provides a detailed overview and instructions for the use of the Morse Fall Scale.
The objectives of this program are to:
- Illuminate the cause, incidence, risk factors, and effects that hospital falls have on patients, caregivers, systems, and society
- Underscore the importance of assessing hospitalized patients’ risk of falls in an effort to improve health outcomes
- Present data and guidelines on tools for triaging patients based on hospital fall risk, such as the Morse Fall Scale
- Describe a hypothetical patient case study so providers can gain practice with implementation of a fall risk scoring tool in their setting
