Continuing Education - Complications of Immobility

Immobility can impact every system in the body. Complications from immobility can lead to a rapid and steady decline of a patient's overall health if preventive measures are not taken. Although patients in any healthcare setting can be compromised by immobility, it is particularly true of patients within critical care settings. Therefore, this course will focus primarily on the impact of immobility on the ICU patient.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify why early patient mobility is so important.
  • Delineate the new standards of care for patient mobility.
  • Examine institutional costs associated with immobility.
