This continuing education presentation is designed to provide learning on the importance of support surfaces to pressure injury prevention and treatment. This course was developed in collaboration with Elizabeth Ayello and Karen Zulkowski. Learning objectives are: review National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) classification, definition, and description of support surfaces; describe technologies used to address extrinsic risk factors; learn how to use of support surfaces for prevention and treatment of pressure injuries; and examine the evidence for therapy support surface selection.
